This week I would like to introduce you to Ahmadi, the oil treasure trove of Kuwait. Al Ahmadi (Arabic: الاحمدي) is one of the six governorates of Kuwait. It is located in the southern part of the country and is famous in Kuwait for its greenery and British architecture. Al Ahmadi forms an important part of Kuwaiti economy as several of Kuwait’s oil refineries are located here. Main residential areas include Abu Halifa, Riqqah and Mangaf. Al Ahmadi is the home of several sporting clubs and complexes in Kuwait. The headquarters of Kuwait National Petroleum Companyis located in Al Ahmadi.
This area has a lot of oil storage tanks and has many buildings of significance, but most of these fall under the “Photography Restricted Area”. Ahmadi has a wonderful Catholic Church and has a lot of Schools(Government and Private). Fahaheel Al Watanieh Indian Private School(FAIPS), which is also known as DPS-Kuwait is located in this area. This place gives a wonderful feeling of township.
Blogger Mathai had been by these streets sometime back, you can read his exploits from that trip here.
