Gmail Backup

Most of us are paranoid about our emails, we want to protect them as much as possible. These days many methods are used by hackers to hack our accounts for reasons best known to them. Emails can contain a lot of important information and like backing up any other data, backing our emails should be considered as mandatory. I have been using Gmail since they launched it and i have almost 2000+ important emails in this account. I was looking for a tool to backup my account and my search led me to Gmail Backup.

Gmail Backup is a very handy tool, the download and installation is quick, and you are ready to go in a flash. This tool can be used to backup your entire account. This can be used to restore emails from your backup in case you accidentally deleted any email from your Gmail. The initial backup takes a while and is dependent on the volume of emails in your account. The only drawback i found is that if you have unread emails in your gmail, once you use this tool to backup, the unread emails will be marked as read. Once you are done with the full backup, you can use the option to backup newest emails for subsequent uses.

You can download Gmail Backup by clicking here.

Pharmacy Rules…

pharmacy Back home in India, if you need to get some medicines you can directly go to any pharmacy and get the exact quantity as prescribed by the doctor. This means if the doctor prescribes to take 10 tablets as part of the dosage, you can get exactly 10tablets even if  the bottle of medicine comes with 100 tablets and you get charged for the 10 tablets. But here in Kuwait, the medicines have to be bought as it comes even if you need only 10 tablets you need to get the entire bottle with 100tablets. I thought it was a rule made by one pharmacy, I checked around and found that it’s the same with all the pharmacies. Finally I came to know that this is a rule in Kuwait.

Good for the pharmacy and the distributors and do i need to tell, bad for the customers.

Windows 95 turns 15

August 24, 1995, that’s the date when Windows95 codenamed “Chicago” was released. I still remember the days when we were fiddling with Windows 3.1. Windows 95 was a welcome change from the Win 3.1 edition which was released in 1992.  Windows 95 was a major step for Microsoft, Windows 95 included support for 255-character mixed-case long filenames and 32-bit applications. It also introduced the Plug n Play concept.Windows 95 Screen Shot-vert

OhLife- Write your life story

OHLIFE I had a habit of writing a daily summary in my diary during my school days. It was fun reading them after so many years. I don’t write anything these days, everything has become online. I spend the majority of the day in front of the desktop or my laptop. I looked up the internet to find a free online personal journal and ended up here. Ohlife is a simple website which helps us to maintain an online personal journal, the sign up is free and takes a minute or so.

Now let me explain how the whole thing works. Once you are done with the sign up, you can configure the settings, basically you select your time zone. The website generates an email every day at 8pm. All you have to do is to reply to that email and that becomes that day’s journal. If you want to add something after sometime, you just reply to the same email. It gets added to the previous entry. There is an option to export your journal as a txt file. The only issue with this online journal is that they are not editable. In a diary you can tear off the paper or spill the ink but here you are stuck with the entry, but that’s how it should be! right?
